Methodist e-Academy @ Cliff College
Our English branch courses are administered by Cliff College (UK) and accredited by the University of Manchester. The academic year is made up of three 10-week trimesters, and students will take the following 6 units over two years: Students will receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Theology and Mission at the end of their e-Academy studies. Students wishing to continue their studies can enroll at Cliff College at a reduced rate, and write and successfully defend a thesis in order to receive the full MA in Theology and Mission.
New students are accepted in September of odd years (2027, 2029, 2031, etc.).

Methodist and Wesleyan Identity and Mission
This unit provides students with a critical overview of the Methodist movement and the development of the global Wesleyan family of churches. Using historical and theological approaches, the unit uncovers key figures, episodes and emphases that shape the expression of Methodist and Wesleyan identity in mission today.

European Methodist History
This unit provides students with a critical overview of the development of Methodism in Europe. By exploring the relationship between different Methodist bodies, it deepens students’ understanding of the ecclesial, social and political contexts in which Methodism arose and developed.

United Methodist Polity and Doctrine
This unit examines the distinctive features of Methodist doctrine as theological reflection embedded in praxis and directed towards personal, communal and social transformation. It explores a Methodist understanding of the church and its mission including the polity and discipline of the United Methodist Church with a particular focus on the life and mission of the church in contemporary Europe.

Pioneer Ecclesiology and Mission
This unit explores the relationship between missional practices and the underlying ecclesiology that supports and sustains them. Students are encouraged to reflect critically on the ecclesiological commitments inherent in contemporary missional practices, especially those classed as ‘pioneering’ or ‘fresh’.

Missional Theology
This unit enables students to navigate the field of missional scholarship with confidence and competence. Key concepts and themes in missional theology are explored, using advanced approaches from biblical and theological studies.

Missional Theology in Practice
This unit equips students with advanced methods of practical theology to explore and evaluate their missional practice. The unit includes a period of ‘field education’, in a context agreed with the College, which may be either an existing ministry setting or a new one.
